"Torn Into Enthrallment" is a good song, lyrically. It also happens to be my favorite song that I have heard from Suffocation. Its the best, IMO. Sympathy did a cover of it.

Musically, Suffocation is one of my top all time favorite death metal bands. Lyrically, they not as all out satanic as bands like Deicide or Incantation, but there are some stuff of theirs which is kinda blasphemis. I think the link below will answer your question.

Effigy of the Forgotten is also essential. Human Waste is cool but not at the same level. Also, that reminds me that I haven't seen my Human Waste shirt in a long time. Strange. I'm sure it's gone forever. That's the problem with having so many metal shirts. You can lose one without noticing.

Suffocation is one band that I recommend people listen to. They are brutal and intense. Their lyrics, sometimes are a bit weird, but they arent as bad as Cannibal Corpse or Deicide.

A recommended listen... Majority of their songs are good. Ask Phil

I really wish Suffocation would put out a Remastered version of "Pierced From Within". Its a great album, its just the production sucks @$$.

The newer album, "Suffocation", I think may be the best one, IMO.

The production on Pierced From Within is actually pretty much perfect [for death metal, i.e. not overproduced like pop]. You just need to turn up the volume a bit more than most newer cds.

Apparently my link to catacombs merch site did not work. But what is was suppose to be was a pic of one of thier shirts which is in reference to the song "Jesus Wept". On the front it has a picture of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns and the Suffocation logo on the top. On the back are the words "Prayers to the feeble God whom you once believed in". That is quite disturbing to me, but otherwise they're not nearly as bad lyrically as most other death metal bands. I love them musically, and my avatar prooves it. In case ya don't know, the black guy next to me is their guitarist Terrance Hobbs. :headbang:

you are right, i lack the competence to know death metal, honestly ive never heard anything from suffocation except the few songs i heard live, i just remember them being annoying more than anything, sorry, i just didnt like it, it was mostly the vocals i believe, ive slept since then, i just remember being bored, i actually wanted to see shadows fall but i got tired of hearing suffocation, thats how much i dont know about death metal

To be honset, the vocals did annoy me at first too. I just got past them, because the music can be pretty cool at times.

I sort of like his voice sometimes, and other times I hate it. Its just strange.

Disavowed, Inveracity, and Pyaemia are pretty similar, although I'm not sure if you would like Pyaemia's and Inveracity's lyrics (they're similar to Cannibal Corpse lyrics). Look them up on Metal Archives.

I really do enjoy Suffocation and would probably say Effigy and Pierced are awesome CD's. I read their lyrics and had slight problems with some of them but otherwise im fine with them. You really cant hear what they are saying most of the time so its ok :p

Haha I did not read this. This is funny :D I dont have any of their CD's yet but they are next on the list. I have heard every song from Effigy, Souls to Deny, and Pierced though on my friends ipod. One of my few friends that listens to good music ;) But I am mad because I have not bought really any CD's in the past couple months. Once I can get some money I will buy some Suffocation though. Been into alot of early 1990's death metal and I have wanted CD's but I dont have No DANG MONEYYYYYY.

Little-known fact:
The guy who did the cover art for their debut EP "Human Waste" (Ron Spencer) is from my hometown of Aurora, NE and is a buddy of mine. He's an ultra-nice guy and has done loads of great artwork for the Magic: The Gathering card series as well.
