Those that gave thier lives unwillingly and willingly.....
The families whose lives were disrupted and forced to lose a loved one and
those that lost a hero who died trying to rescue others....
The ones that are named and unnamed as well.....
May God Be with us and all who lost a friend , parent, spouse ,child.....
God bless America!
Amen Maria! We do need to remember those heroes.

yes right now they are reading the names of the known ones....Everytime I always replay the day ..and remember the scenes.....cries, astonishment..
I cried really hard....Then its like God was reminding us that we all rely on Him to live or to die....but one thing for sure is that we will never forget this day and will pray for those families who hurt, mourn and remember....
May they feel God's love and confort..

Pray for those that are hurting on this day, and remember the ordinary people who on this day became heroes.

Amen Maria.
however I'd like to tell that you do have to remember that they aren't the only ones that died in a terrorist planecrash ...
and many of those don't get their names on the radio,
so when you're done thinking/praying for the 9/11 people,
give some time for the others too.

2973 killed
24 missing
29 Port Authority Police officers killed
23 NYPD officers killed
343 New York Firefighters killed
Grief, we understand that these aren't the only people to be killed in a plane crash. But this was an attack on our home soil, and it had a huge impact on America. Then there were those that gave their lives to save the ones in the towers. Everybody was one body that day. Black, white, brown, red, didn't matter. Everybody was working together. We were all Americans, not individuals.
That's why we remember.
God Bless the USA!!

Just to make it clear, I don't disregard anybody else that has been killed in a terrorist planecrash. I didn't mean for it to come across that way.

Sorry yeah I understand,
what I said was maybe a bit weird,
and I'm certainly in grief for what happened,
it's really sad and they should get remembered,
and also the people that tried to save the people inside,
and it might be 9/11 today,
but for me (maybe because I'm non-american ? )
it just seems that, even though this was terrible,
it pushes away other victims of these kind of attacks.
because they don't have there day and they don't get their names on the radio, while they also died the same way,
and their families lost people on the same way.
I'm trying to explain it in the best way I can.
I didn't mean to upset anyone or disregard anyone either.
sorry if I get/got misunderstood.
this is also pretty hard to explain as being a dutch person.
sorry : after writing this I also got in mind that this was probably a lot different for you as it is for me, because it did happen on your 'ground'.
and maybe if it happened here in Belgium I would have another view on it.
it's just that we europeans are right in the middle.
on our left we have the americans and on our right we have Asia/Middle East.
and we don't really have these kind of happenings,
so probably look at it from another point of view.
I apologise for things I said that are wrong.
and I also want to say God Bless America !
and that these people deserve what they get.

I'm sorry Grief. I understand what you're saying, and I don't believe for a minute that you said anything wrong. I wasn't offended. I was just making clear what this day means to us and why it's such a solemn day. I do pray for those that have died in the same way. But Sept. 11 isn't just about the planes crashing into the towers and the Pentagon, or the brave people that lost their lives on flight 93. It's a rememberance of what happened as a whole. A group of mindless thugs attacked our homeland. And America has become a stronger group of people because of it.
I didn't mean my post to be an attack on you. I totally agree with you. But that was my rationale behind it.

My prayers go out to all the friends of families of those affected by this tragedy.
I still won't forget that day, walking into my classroom as someone was telling me about the first plane and I said "yeah right.." and then seeing the TV...and just a minute or two after that, the second plane...
That was the same classroom where my teacher spent little to no time in the room because she was trying to contact her brother (I think that's who it was) who worked at the WTC...thankfully he survived, but for all those who died and their families, we will never forget them.

Sadly this is not true, the bus bombings in England, the train bombings in Spain, and the muslim riots in France are but a few examples of this in Europe. there have been other attempts including one that was just busted up in your neck of the woods (I don't recall if it was Belgium or Holland). May God help us all.

When The Eagle Cries by Iced Earth
Another day, just like any other
out of the blue, it turned to horror
How could they?
Why would they?
The innocents suffered hell's inferno
An senseless act that goes unforgotten
How could they?
They will pay.
[Chorus:]
When the Eagle Cries
Blood will flow
When the Eagle Cries
For freedom's fight
When the Eagle Cries
We love her so
When the Eagle Cries
We will sacrifice
Out of the ashes came a tempted vengeance
but we are focused, we seek redemption
we are free
we'll stay free
All they've done is make us stronger
The sleeping giant is asleep no longer
If need be
we'll die free
[Chorus:]
When the Eagle Cries
Blood will flow
When the Eagle Cries
For freedom's fight
When the Eagle Cries
We love her so
When the Eagle Cries
We will sacrifice

I was watching a documentary on CBS last night, it was an originally about a rookie fireman learning the ropes. Turned out to be documentary about 9/11. It showed the battalion of firemen in World Trade Center 1. The command center was setup in the lobby. As firemen stood in the lobby you could hear loud crashes hitting the roof of the lobby. It was people that had jumped to their death. The sound is so haunting. I remember I was in training at a job that day. My cousin and her family were on their way from Connecticut to Florida for a Disney vacation. It wasn't till they got to Florida that they found out what had happen. Disney actually closed that day. Humanity was at it's worst for the senseless killings, but it was also at it's best when people unselflessly risked life and limb to save others.

On the day itself I was working at a large meteorological corporation that shall remain nameless. We were at training that day over at Penn State so we were kind of cut off. Once we heard what was going on though, Charlie (the radar programmer) quick pulled up the raw NEXRAD images from NYC. The radar site was right downtown near the towers, but very high up (to avoid ground clutter from all those buildings).
On that day, all we saw was a dust plume. Very distinct. Right from where the WTC once stood. It was creepy.

I was working nights at the time. I got off at 7 a.m. and had already gotten home and in bed. My brother worked the same shift and we shared a room. I was laying there asleep when he woke me up and said that we had just been attacked. I told him he was full of it and tried to go back to sleep. He drug me out of bed and I went and turned on CNN. It was so depressing to see what was going on. It still saddens me. Almost to tears.
My friends & I prayed for the families today.
I feel really bad for all the people that lost loved ones.

In my business dealings, I have dealt with many different peoples from many different cultures. On that day 5 years ago I was particularly angered/saddened by the reaction from people who obvioulsy were not saddened by the events of that day. Yes, I am from the Los Angeles area, and obviously my neck of the woods has more than it's share of foreign cultures. I was in shock as to the reaction I witnessed. Some people were like "Serves you guys well", to "America had it coming". Man, some other people were like, "Hey guys, oh well". I'm a person of color. And regretably, I was not only saddened that day, but also ashamed of some people as well. Thank God for America. There's always a day of reckoning...

Let's remember the victims and let's not forget what caused this attack: the inadequate foreign policy of the greedy American politicians and the response of the Arabian lunatics. All this has led to even more bloodshed. The real victims are the regular people though. When will we learn....

He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword, you know. These crazy arabs were created by the US in the first place, then they got angry at them for oppressing their people. So the American government AND the muslim terrorists are responsible for this. Let's also not forget about the innocent children killed in Iraq and Afganistan by the US military. It would be hypocritical and selfish not to mension them.
Are the killed people innocent? Yes. Are the American politicians guilty? Yes. Are those "religious" fanatics guilty? Yes.
With all this I'm trying to say: war solves nothing and the only victims are innocent people.

I'm not going to debate this here. But I stand by my statement. You can't blame the US government for the sins of a bunch of extremists. Yes, innocent lives have been lost in both of our war efforts. I hate to be cold hearted, but that's the price that gets paid. Had we done nothing, there would be a lot more 9-11's than there has been. In this case, war against those that threaten us is the only answer. They can't be reasoned with. They don't care who they hurt or kill. However, if you want to debate this further, feel free to PM me. This thread is intended for those that lost their lives. And bickering is no way to honor them.

I was at home, off sick, when the news came on. My Mum was home, too and had just sat down to watch some programme or other (it was about 2pm UK time) and then just called me through... what a nightmare. It was unbelievable, even though it was happening right there in front of our eyes. I remember crying, praying and just being rendered speechless at what was unfolding in front of us. My prayers are with those families & people who lost loved ones. I know people who lost colleagues in the WTC. America got hit, but the whole world was affected and is still being affected.
Whatever we think of the war on terror, whether we want to point a finger at any government or regime, whatever happens, we should realise that violence, bullets and murder are not going to solve the issues or bring lasting peace. MHO is that we are now all involved in a vicious cycle of events and there will not be a "winner". I just pray that God will intervene, because mankind will just continue to make the mistakes we always make. We just love to fight I think...  Arguing the toss, however, is not going to bring anybody back, nor will it honour those victims we are praying for.

I lost a friend in the North tower, Nick Brandimarte. He was a young , brilliant lad, who worked for the company I work for. His family lives next door , to the president of my company. He worked with our sales team , for a short time, and left, to start his carreer, for a financial institution at WTC. I have played golf with his dad many times. The family was devastated (sorry, I'm starting to loose it here )..........I'll sum it up two ways;
1) - Terrorist , Jihad , whatever - I refer to then as "cowards". nuff said

2) - I keep coming back to the 23 Palsms :
Yea though I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil,FOR THOR ART WITH ME, thy rod and thy staff shall comfort me
-
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mime enemies, thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over
-
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, AND I WILL DWELL IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD , FOREVER !

Twas a sparkling morning with the sun shining
A beautiful day that had begun to enfold...
Twas a day like any other, to and fro..
did we all go.
Going to work, or going to school, everyone
was off somewhere.
Aboarding a plane, or just by car,
to reach a final destination with further adue...
People, crying, people moaning, what has
happened? Twas surprising!
Planes crashing, Buildings falling, People crying...
Pain in dying, fear in dying, why is this happening?
Liberty shattered, Security broken, no one knows
what to do....
Oh GoD! hear our cries and sorrows....
Take away this suffering and Take in your hands
all those that believed in you and give them a place
in your kingdom above.....
Until we meet again.....
Till our time comes........
