If you like wormed, check out these guys http://www.myspace.com/foetopsy
I'm not saying they're the most brutal band ever, but if you like hyperblast gore grind, you'll probably dig em. Great live band too!
Also, check out Brodequin, it's the same drummer.

I dunno. While i listen to plenty of goregrind, noise, industrial and black bands that are kinda heavy, i find Mortal Treason seem more brutal because they leave space in their tracks - the contrast between the heavy and the not-so-heavy makes it seem more brutal than it is.
I dunno. If not them, then no-one really. Music is pretty tame.

Hahaha!
I'd vote for either Behemoth or Suffocation.

I never really found Spawn of Possession that brutal. I mean, they are brutal, just not as Wormed or Encryptor is.

That's mostly due to their production and because they play a lot of high notes.

Is Sympathy considered "Brutal Death Metal"?

Let me rephrase this question.
What is the brutalist metal that is actually listenable?
I have heard tons of crappy brutal metal bands, but Wormed is the brutalist I can actually listen to, for now anyway.

Do all brutal metal bands have vocals that sound like they are trying to simultaneously eat a hog, take a crap, and scream? Because that is what I can't stand about bands like Wormed.

Not very many bands have vocalists that go as low as Wormed's vocalist does.

You might like Spawn Of Possession, or Visceral Bleeding. They are considered to be some what brutal, and they are also technical.

Actually, now that I look at their lyrical themes on metal archives, I don't think I will be checking them out...Do you know of any others?

Oh, sorry. I didn't check out the lyrics yet. Let me see what I can find.
And, check out HATE ETERNAL. The lyrics are alright. Its just the name and the album cover of "I, Monarch" that one may find disturbing.

It's good to see there's been no metalcore bands mentioned here in a serious light :D
Since my post on page one, I've found more cool music. I'd like to make some additions:
Ahab
Sunn O))
The huge sound and the production (reverberation etc) especially of Ahab gives them a massive/epic sound. And with Sunn O)) the monotony and drone emphasises brutality of them.
What are some of the most brutal metal bands whose lyrics aren't promoting evil or blatantly morbid, immoral or anti-Christian? Please point me in the right direction so I can listen. I can't get enough brutal music, really.

You are obviously not a metal head then.
Three bands you must love before you qualify as a metal head.
1. Iron Maiden
2. Ahab
3. All of the above
Do you past the test, Nailed?
Iron Maiden is good of course.
Ahab? Not sure. Probably good.
So I'm .. half-metalhead. http://www.kj52.com/smf/Smileys/default/undecided.gif

Hahaha. Half cast :D
I now have three musical projects coming :D
1) The Martyred (which wil be a blackened death metal band. Not_Your_Commidity (a member on here) is als a member)
2) Paradoxical Entity: Which will be a one man funeral doom/drone band inspired by Ahab and Sunn O))
3) Wilkins: One man speedcore! I've got songs coming up for this... Good sermon based Speedcore. A first in Christian music!
Lyrics and blue prints are done for all three... But you know, just need the funds/ equipment for them. Once funds come, expect music

Anyway, I would like a serious answer to this question:

At one point I was somehow led to believe that Suicide Silence was a Christian band (don't laugh!) and gave them a listen. It's definitely the most brutal thing I've ever heard, and musically I love it, but I don't listen to them since they diss the Almighty so much. So other than them, Impending Doom, Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Encryptor, Wormed and I Built the Cross.

for me i define brutal in a lot of different ways. pig destroyer can be very burtal, old extol can sound very brutal, converge can also sound brutal. all in different ways and at different times.
for me a heavy groove can be very brutal and so can a blast beat part. it all depends on what else is going on in the music.

Their only good cds are the first one (which had Doug Cerrito, who used to be in Suffocation until a few years ago) and the newest one (which also has Alex Webster on bass).

I've listened to a few songs from The Unspoken King, and it was horrible, not just because it was deathcore (they were deathcore before, on Whisper Supremacy and And Then You'll Beg, but obviously those were not the trendy crap deathcore that they are now), but even the mix and production sucks. The drums are WAAAAAY too loud (not to mention Flo isn't drumming nearly as well as he did on any of their previous cds), the guitar tone sucks (especially when they play any higher notes, like during those random pointless sweeps...seriously, what the hell?), and most of the time during the faster parts you can't even hear the guitars at all.

Oh, I do... I've got every Impending Doom song ever released.
I just don't think Impending Doom are as brutal as Encryptor or HoTA. It all depends on what you call brutal. In regards to this particular styleof death metal, brutal is hard, blistering pace, technical, ever changing, not monotonous is where it's at.
Impending Doom are brutal (kinda), but comparing it to bands like HoTA and Encryptor, they just don't match up.

I see where the fans are coming from, this isn't the Cryptopsy of old. I listened to the song "Worship your Demons", it sounded like some Facedown band. Which I don't want from a legendary death metal outfit. It really does not compare to None So Vile... SLIT YOUR GUTS!!!!!!!!!!
