I've been in pain for the last couple of hours, but I'm not allowed to take my medication until midnight (three hours from now) or I risk an overdose... Woohoo!
Why can't I just get morphine?

I'll pray for you.

Thank you, it's getting quite unbareable... I can't fall asleep easily when I try that either...
It's pretty much fine in the morning and up until sometime in the afternoon and then it starts to hurt more and more by the hour, even though I take my meds.

Yeah, I had my tonsils removed, so everything else in my head hurts...
Throat, ears, tongue, jaw, you name it...

They're called almost the same in danish. Mandler.

You don't want morphine. I had it this past summer and it's utterly ineffective.

Well, I want something that actually kills the pain.
Although when I can feel it's wearing off it gets much worse, so I guess the meds are working, just not enough for my taste.

What are they giving you?

Basic rule of thumb: don't skip a dose. If you're allowed, go get some ice cream. Use cold compresses to control the swelling.

Ahhh I'm the same way...only it's not from surgery...it's partly from neuropathy...and my whole body (especially the legs) are affected but I can only take my somewhat working meds every few hours...hooray!

I am on two different kinds of medicine. Diclon which I must take every eight hour, and panodil (paracetamol) which I can take 4 times each day, so I take them every 6th hour.
Trouble is, the pills doesn't work for that long, but I won't overdose myself.
I do have a great big bag of icecreams in the freezer, and I eat one every so often. It soothes, but only while I'm eating it.

I ate a lot of popsicles when I had my tonsils out...it's cold and it's not as thick as ice cream, so it goes down like ice cold liquid. Felt pretty good :)

well at least your tonsils arent hurting anymore

That is the truth!

I guess what I'm eating is what you would call popsicles. We call them 'soda-ice' here.

Today, the pain isn't as universal. It hurts a bit more when I swallow, but the whole rest of the pain areas aren't really affecting me much anymore (ears, jaw, and tongue not to the same extent as before)

Tomorrow it's been a week since the surgery, so I guess it's time for it to go in the right direction.

I wasn't allowed morphine or any pain killer at all when my liver almost failed... And man that was some crazy pain... I couldn't (didn't) sleep/eat for 4 days because of it too... I managed to drink a bowl of soup in 4 days, and most of it came right back up... In the end I was throwing up blood and my stomach lineing and all the beautiful stuff you find in your belly :D

Hey, at least I'm able to look back on my near death experience and laugh... Really, I need to build a fear of death... It's sort of a problem...
