Anyone knows other stuff that sounds like Judas Priest - Painkiller and Helloween - Keeper of the 7 keys 1 and 2? What other Priest albums should I get and is there anything else from Helloween worth getting? Or any other bands that sound as good?

Riot - "Thundersteel"
I just read the review on nolifetilmetal.com. Sounds like something I'd like. Bobby Jarzombek is an incredible drummer too.
I'll also have to check Winter's Bane. Tim Owens in one heck of a singer.
I also just realised that I actually enjoy Rhapsody's "Power of the Dragonflame" Anyone have some good power metal suggestions, stuff that doesn't sound too cheesy and generic?

Dude, get EVERYTHING by Helloween, except Chameleon. Not that it's bad, but it's not really metal. Get Time of the oath, Better than Raw, the dark ride and Kepper of the 7 keys: the legacy.
Also:
Primal Fear - Primal Fear (fronted by ex-gamma ray singer Ralph Scheepers, who sounds a lot like Halford)
Gamma Ray - Skeletons in the closet
Hammerfall - Legacy of kings
Halford's solo albums

Have a look into Queensryche - Rage For Order. Parts of that made me think i was listening to Helloween.

I actually own that album. Maybe I should listen to it someday...
And about Helloween, there seemed to be some lyrics I didn't like in some more recent albums. Stuff like "Hey God!" and "Hell Was Made in Heaven".

Yeah I think Kiscke and Hanson left the band because the lyrics were going in a direction they didn't feel comfortable with. Their first few albums though are pretty lyrically safe

Speaking of lyrically safe, how is Gamma Ray? I read some lyrics from the last album and though it probably wasn't that much... which is why I'm surprised Hanson left for such reason. BTW the song "Save Us" is not very not very positive towards faith in God.

I've only heard Gamma Ray's first album and that seemed fine. Not sure about the later ones though

That's bull. Helloween's leader, Michael Weikath is christian. Just listen to Laudate Dominum. They're all 'safe', a lot of christian themes also: Why, Hey Lord, Salvation, Time, The whole Keeper saga,...

do you happen to know what they songs means? I have no idea:
9. Hell Was Made In Heaven
There was a time eating your mind
Eating your heart and your soul
Down to the bone always alone
Nobody waiting at home
Now allow that we unite our fires
Shout it out
Give yourself to me
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Hell was made in heaven
I was made for you
Hell was made in heaven
Made for loving you in sin
Ten years ago you made the vow
Promised your life and your love
Before you have paid, nothing returned
What is enough is enough
Now allow that we unite our fires
Shout it out
Give yourself to me
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Hell was made in heaven
I was made for you
Hell was made in heaven
Made for loving you in sin
Now allow that we unite our fires
Shout it out
Give yourself to me
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Hell was made in heaven
I was made for you
Hell was made in heaven
Made for loving you in sin, in sin
In sin, in sin

Well, I found out that Gamma Ray is very good, Judas Priest also made some other good albums.
Post Kai Hansen Helloween is not very good. I don't really like Andi Deris, his voice sounds really effeminate.
What I've heard of Primal Fear didn't impress me. Maybe Ralph Scheepers should've stayed with Gamma Ray. Kai seems to be able to hit even higher notes, but his voice makes the band sound like a circus act.

The Jarzombeks are probably the most talented family in metal... Spastic Ink and Watchtower are just INCREDIBLE.

o rly? I'm the one who suggested Spastic Ink to you... and it doesn't matter who plays the drums, Bobby play in Demons and Wizards and there is nothing outstanding drumwise in there.

No you're not... Alex was. I blew them off several years ago on his suggsetion, but got into them earlier this year on my own accord. And really, Demons and Wizards is just an extremely generic boring band with no room for creative drumming, so it's not surprising that the drums are not outstanding. Ink Compatible, on the other hand, has probably the most brilliant drumming I've heard on a metal album since Dimensions.

And what's your point? That's why I'm saying it doesn't matter if Bobby played with Riot since I don't expect him to do anything mind blowing with that kind of band. You have no taste in music so why do you even bother post here? Spastic Ink and Watchtower are on my want list already.
