Anyone know any good VST distortion units? Preferably but not necessarily free?

for a guitar? no. I don't know why, but I've never heard anything decent. Not for free or a trial period at least.

why are you trying to cheat guitar sounds? If you are doing nothing but PC stuff, then go buy Line 6 guitar port. that might be the cheapest fashion, but that is all you can do. There is no VST line for guitars, but only for drums and keys, but I could be wrong.

I for one knew nothing of what you were running FLA. After also using a POD for a few years, I now have decided, never to use anything that is digital, other than BOSS's delay. I want sound, not a fake sound!

i have to deal with being limited in what I am able to do, due to my living situation and how quiet the room i record in is. with the things i need to overcome, turning up my marshall to get the right sound isnt as feasible as i would like. So I use amp modelers to get the job done.

all of tophet is amp modeler (Behringer)
i think it sounds really pretty good.

btw you can hear the amp modeler on our myspace.com page

I dont want to cheat guitar sounds. I want it for drums, bass and vocals.

to use VST modulation, you need a module, like drum module....all it does is help simulate the sounds
