Altruist

Since the original thread was deleted along with the board, I thought I'd make a new one. For those of you who don't know, my 15-year-old brother, Brennan, had a stroke 6 days ago. He was at home and suddenly became exhausted and began slurring his speech, so my mom took him to the doctor. After a few MRIs, it was determined that he had had a stroke and he was immediately hooked up to a bunch of medical equipment and given morphine for his ever-increasing pain. Originally he was listed as "severe" condition, not "critical", but increased to "critical" condition when he started having seizures along with an allergic reaction to the morphine. He was taken off the morphine and given another painkiller and, after a few more tests, was brought in for emergency brain sugery. Surprisingly, he went from critical condition to very hopeful after the completion of the surgery and the removal of the golf-ball sized blood clot. Over the following few days, he made very swift progress and was moved out of the intensive care unit. As of last night, he is already at home (5 days after having the stroke) and is quickly recovering. He will be able to attend school on time, though he will have a bit of problems (mostly related to vision and walking) for a couple months. As a result, he'll probably have to have someone take notes for him for a little while, but will otherwise be back to normal in school. He had to quit football of course, but will likely be able to play next year. This whole situation has been very miraculous and, as bad as it sounds to have brain surgery, worked out about as well as possible. If you guys could continue to pray for a rapid return to normal living, that'd be much appreciated.
